This section describes the Project Network — the workspace where you add, connect, and manage entities within a project. After adding entities to the network, you can establish connections between them and modify the objects those connections share.
You can access the project network using the following options:
Option 1
Option 2
You can choose your preferred view mode for the project network: Interaction View or Dataflow View. The Interaction View focuses on relationships and interactions between entities. The Dataflow View highlights the flow of information and processes. If you have not specified a preferred mode, the system defaults to the Interaction View.
To set your default view, navigate to: Settings > Personalization > Editor Settings > Network Editor Settings > Default View.
Refer to the Network Editor Settings article for instructions. Once you set your preference, the network screen opens in your selected view.
The Interaction View provides a visual representation of how entities are interconnected within a project network. The selected entity appears at the center, while all associated entities radiate outward. Each connected entity is represented, showing the direct links and pathways through which data flows.
When you open the Network in edit mode or select Entity on the project tile, a Select Entity dialog appears. This dialog lists all entities associated with your project — systems, automation, and channels — including entities added to the project but not yet connected.
Select any entity to go to the Interaction View and visualize the network diagram.
The Show Legend icon is in the upper-right corner. Select it to open a legend explaining the shapes and colors used in the Interaction View.
After selecting an entity in the Select Entity dialog, the Network screen opens with the Interaction View tab active. The chosen entity appears at the center, surrounded by interconnected entities.
The Network tab shows key information at a glance: entity name, type, logo, and current status (for example, Alert or Warning). A list of actionable items appears below for managing tasks related to the selected entity.
Select an entity in the diagram to highlight it and view its details in a new task tab. Double-click an entity to center it in the diagram — all connected entities arrange around it, showing the full network structure.
Select a connection line to view connection details and available actions in the Network tab, including modifying or disconnecting the connection.
The Network tab displays information about entities and associated action items. When you select an entity in the network diagram, its details and action items appear here. Selecting outside the network diagram shows a full list of all entities in the network.
Select the Show Entity icon in the action area to open the Entity tab. It lists all entities for the selected project, organized into: Channels and Systems. Each entity appears on a band; the selected entity shows a tick icon. Select a different entity band to highlight it and go to the Network tab. Double-click an entity band to center it in the diagram.
Select the Help icon in the action area to open the Help tab. The tab provides on-screen help in three sections:
Select the Filter icon in the action area to open the Filter tab. Use filters to control which entities and connections are displayed in the network diagram.
This section describes the action items available in the Interaction View. These items are accessible via the Network tab and let you configure and modify the project network.
Select Add in the action area to start the Add Entity process. Note: Ensure the entity (system or automation) is already created in its respective module before adding it to the network.
Select the Connect option from the drop-down next to the Add button to start the Connect Entity process. The network also supports drag-and-drop for connecting entities. Note: Ensure the entity is already added to your project before connecting.
To connect: center your first entity by double-clicking it, then drag a second entity from the Entity tab into the diagram, or use the Connect option to select the second entity in the process.
Select the system in the network diagram to highlight it and view its details in the Network tab. Select Edit System. The editing interface opens with the following sections: Admin Users, Configuration, Details, Logo, Published Objects, Subscriptions.
Use this action to remove an entity from the network. Note: You can only remove entities that are not connected to any other entity. If the entity is connected, disconnect it first, then remove it.
Select the entity in the Interaction View. The Remove From Network option appears in the Network tab. Select it to start the process.
Select the connection line between the entities you want to change. The Edit Connection option appears in the Network tab. Select the band to start editing. You can modify the following for both entities:
Select the connection line between the entities. The Edit Configuration option appears in the Network tab. Select the band to start configuring. On the configuration screen, you can configure, activate, and deactivate the object.
Note: You cannot disconnect entities directly. First disconnect any dependent entities that subscribe to data from the connection. Select the connection line. The Disconnect option appears in the Network tab. Select the band to start the disconnect process.
Select the connection line between connected systems. The Initialize band appears in the Network tab. Select it to go to the initialization screen, which lists the configured objects. Objects not yet initialized show a Not Started flag. Select an object to initialize it and follow the steps.
The Dataflow View provides a tree-like representation of the project network, showing how entities are interconnected and how data flows between them. An entity or trigger appears at the parent level, with objects, component centers, and subscribing entities at the leaf level based on subscription.
This section describes the action items available in the Dataflow View. These items are accessible via the Network tab.
Select the component node in the Dataflow View to highlight it and display the Edit Component panel in the Network tab. Select the panel to open the editing interface. You can modify:
Select the system, then select Edit System in the Network tab. The editing interface opens with the sections: Admin Users, Configuration, Details, Logo, Published Objects, and Subscriptions.
