Connect Connector

Connect Connector

Overview

This section describes how to connect a connector to another entity. A single process guides you through connecting the desired connector to any entity. The same process also lets you connect automation to any entity. In Step 3, you select the entity type; subsequent steps display based on your selection.

Step 1 – Start Connect Entity Process

  • Open the Project module.
  • Bring the entity to the center of the network diagram where you want to connect another entity. The central system is treated as the first system for connection; the second system is selected in Step 4.
  • Select Connect in the action area. The Connect Entity process starts.

Step 2 – Introduction

  • The Introduction screen appears, providing an overview of the Connect Entity process and what is ahead.
  • Review the standard icons and their usage before you begin.
  • The screen is divided into two areas:
    • Information Area: Displays instructions and guidance for each step. Read this before filling in details to ensure accuracy. A collapse icon is also available — select it to maximize the working area; select it again to restore the information bar.
    • Content Area: Where all actions are performed. It contains the following:
      • The screen title appears in the top-left corner under Current Step. It currently displays Introduction.
      • The Completed drop-down in the top-right corner lists all completed steps. It shows 0 until you complete a step. Completed steps are added to the drop-down as you progress. To return to a completed step, select it from the drop-down.
      • A progress bar below the screen title shows your current position. For example, if there are six steps and you are on the first, the bar displays 1/6.
      • An image of the full process flow is displayed in the working area.
  • The Show every time toggle at the bottom-right controls whether the Introduction screen appears each time you start the Connect Entity process. Enable it to always show the screen; disable it to skip it on future runs.

Step 3 – Select Entity Type

  • Select the entity type you want to connect. Two cards are displayed:
    • Connector
    • Automation
  • The subsequent screens display based on your selection.
  • Select the card for your entity type. The selected card is highlighted and Next Step becomes active.
  • Select Next Step to continue. Select Cancel to exit to the Project home screen. Select Previous Step to go back.

  • Select the Connect Connector card. The selected card is highlighted and Next Step becomes active.
  • Select Next Step to continue. Select Cancel to exit. Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 4 – Select Connector

  • Select the connector you want to connect. A list of installed connectors is displayed.
  • Note: Entities already added to the selected project are listed here.
  • Use the search field or the Type filter drop-down to find a specific connector. Results appear instantly as you type.
  • If you cannot find the connector after applying filters, use the options at the bottom of the screen:
    • Get from the marketplace: Select your desired connector from the marketplace.
    • Create Your Own System: Create your own connector and go to the System Designer screen.
    • Ask the Community for Support: Go to the OneEnterprise community portal to post queries and receive assistance.
  • Select the connector. The row is highlighted. Select Next Step to continue (enabled after you select a connector). Select Cancel to exit. Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 5 – Configure Objects

  • In this step, configure the flow direction of objects between the chosen connectors. Each supported object displays on a separate band, showing the supported flow direction.
  • Select a band to expand it and view the flow direction options.

  • The icon indicates no flow direction is currently selected.

  • After selecting the band, the section expands showing the supported flow directions.
    • If the connector supports bidirectional flow, two bands display — one for A to B and one for B to A.
    • Note: If only one direction is supported, only one band displays.
  • Select the respective band to enable data flow in that direction. To allow data to flow in both directions, select both bands. Selected bands are highlighted.

  • After collapsing the band, the configured flow direction displays on the band — unidirectional or bidirectional.

  • Configuring all objects is not mandatory. Configure any object and its flow directions as needed.
  • Select Next Step to continue (enabled once at least one flow direction is configured). Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 6 – Connecting Connector

  • After you select Next Step, the Connecting Connector screen appears. The system completes all backend processing.
  • A confirmation message appears when the connector is successfully connected.
  • Select Close to exit the screen.

  • The connected entities display on the Interaction View.
