Connect Connector

Connect Connector

Overview

This section lets you connect a connector to another entity. A single wizard guides you through the process of connecting the desired connector to any entity. The same wizard also enables you to connect automation to any entity. In the second step of the wizard, you need to select the entity type. Depending on the entity you choose, subsequent steps will be shown.

Step 1 - Start Connect Entity Wizard

  1. Go to the Project module.
  2. Bring the entity to the center of the network diagram where you want to connect another entity. The central system will be considered the first system for connection, and the second system should be chosen in Step 4 of the wizard.
  3. To connect an entity, click the 'Connect' button in the action area. This will initiate the 'Connect Entity' wizard.

Step 2 - View Wizard Introduction

  1. Once the Connect Entity wizard is initiated, a pop-up will appear titled 'Introduction'.
  2. The screen provides an overview of the Connect Entity wizard, helping you understand what's ahead.
  3. Before adding details to the wizard, please get familiar with some standard icons and their usage.
  4. The screen is divided into two segments:
    1. Information Area:
      1. You can find detailed instructions and information for each step in the information area.
      2. Reading these before filling in the details on the screen is recommended to ensure accuracy.
      3. Furthermore, an icon allows you to collapse the information bar, thereby increasing the available working area for the content.
      4. Click the icon to collapse the bar, and click again to return it to normal.
    2. Content Area:
      1. The content area is where all actions must be performed on the screen.
      2. The screen title is located in the top-left corner, under "Current Step." Currently, it displays an 'Introduction'.
      3. On the top right corner, you will find the 'Completed' drop-down, which lists all the completed steps. Since you haven't completed any steps, '0' is displayed. Completed steps will be added to the drop-down as you progress through the wizard. To return to a previously completed step, select it from the drop-down menu.
      4. A Progress bar is placed below the screen title, which displays the wizard's progress status. The progress bar also indicates the total number of steps and the current step you are working on. For instance, if the total number of steps is six and you are on the first step, the progress bar will display 1/6.
      5. The screen's working area displays an image of the entire wizard process.
      1. A toggle button labeled "Show every time" is located at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Turning off the toggle button will prevent the Introduction screen from displaying when you initiate the Connect System Wizard. However, if you decide to enable the toggle button, you will be able to see the Introduction screen every time you start the Connect System Wizard. The Introduction screen will be skipped if you turn off the "Show every time" button.

Step 3 - Connect Entity

  1. On this screen, you need to make a selection whether you want to connect a Connector or Automation to the selected entity.
  2. Please select the asset type you want to connect. You will see two cards on the screen:
    1. Connector
    2. Automation
  3. Based on the asset type selection, the further screens will appear.
  4. To select the asset type, click on the respective cards. The section entity card will be highlighted, and the 'Next Step' button will be enabled.
  5. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button. This will cancel the wizard and take you to the Project home screen.
  6. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.

  1. Please select the Connect Connector card.
  2. To select the entity type, click on the Connect Connector card. The chosen card will be highlighted, and the 'Next Step' button will be enabled. Click on the enabled Next Step button to continue.
  3. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button. This will cancel the wizard and take you to the Project home screen.
  4. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.

Step 4 - Select Connector

  1. In this step, please select the connector you want to connect. A list of already installed connectors will appear.
  2. Please note that entities that are already added to the selected project will be listed here.
  3. Search and system-type filter options are available on the screen to help you find the right system. The corresponding results will appear instantly when you start typing a name into the search field. You can also use the 'Type' filter to search for a particular connector. Choose the appropriate option from the drop-down list, such as Accounting System, to display all related connectors.
  4. If you cannot find the connector you are searching for after applying the filters, you can choose the options at the bottom of the screen.
    1. The first option, 'Get from the marketplace', allows you to select your desired connector from the market.
    2. The second option, 'Create Your Own System', allows you to create your own connector and directs you to the System Designer screen.
    3. The third option, 'Ask the Community for Support', allows you to seek help from the OneEnterprise community. You will be directed to our community portal, where you can post your queries and receive assistance.
    4. Select the appropriate option by clicking on the desired button. After clicking the desired button, you will be redirected from the wizard to the corresponding screen.
  5. To select, click on the desired connector; that row will be highlighted.
  6. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button. This will cancel the wizard and take you to the project home screen.
  7. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.
  8. Next Step:
    1. The 'Next Step' button is turned off by default, but will be enabled once you select a connector.
    2. Click on the enabled 'Next Step' button to continue.

Step 5 - Configure Object(s)

  1. In this step, you need to configure the flow direction of the objects between the chosen connectors.
  2. The supported objects will be displayed on the screen, with each object represented in a separate band.
  3. You can click on the band to view the supported flow directions. However, the band will also display the supported flow direction between the connectors on the band itself.
  4. Click on the band to expand the object.
  5. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.
  6. Next Step:
    1. The Next Step button is turned off by default.
    2. Once the flow directions are configured, the button will be enabled.
  1. The icon indicates that currently no flow direction is selected between the connectors.

  1. After clicking on the object band, the section will expand.
  2. Inside the expanded section, you'll see the supported flow directions.
  3. If the connector supports bidirectional flow, you will notice two bands
  4. One band will display the direction from connector A to connector B, and the other will show the direction from connector B to connector A.
  5. Please note that if only one direction is supported between the connectors, you will see only one band.
  6. To enable data flow from one connector to another, select the respective band.
  7. To allow data to flow in both directions, choose both bands. The bands will be highlighted when selected.

  1. Once the flow direction is set in the expanded section and the band is collapsed, the configured flow direction will be shown on the band. It can be unidirectional or bidirectional.

  1. It is not mandatory to configure all the objects on this screen.
  2. You are free to configure any object and its flow directions.
  3. Once you have finished configuring the objects, click the Next Step button.

Step 6 - Connecting Connector

  1. After you click the 'Next Step' button, the Adding Connector screen will appear. You can relax while we handle all the backend work.
  2. Once all the settings are configured, a confirmation message will appear on the screen.
  3. Click the 'Close' button to exit the screen.

  1. The connected entities will be shown on the Interaction View.
