Connect Automation

Connect Automation

Overview

This section describes how to connect an automation to another entity. A single process guides you through connecting the desired automation to any entity. The same process also lets you connect a connector to any entity. In Step 3, you select the entity type; subsequent steps display based on your selection.

Step 1 – Start Connect Entity Process

  • Open the Project module.
  • Bring the entity to the center of the network diagram where you want to connect another entity. The central system is treated as the first system for connection; the second system is selected in Step 4.
  • Select Connect in the action area. The Connect Entity process starts.

Step 2 – Introduction

  • The Introduction screen appears, providing an overview of the Connect Entity process and what is ahead.
  • Review the standard icons and their usage before you begin.
  • The screen is divided into two areas:
    • Information Area: Displays instructions and guidance for each step. Read this before filling in details to ensure accuracy. A collapse icon is also available — select it to maximize the working area; select it again to restore the information bar.
    • Content Area: Where all actions are performed. It contains the following:
      • The screen title appears in the top-left corner under Current Step. It currently displays Introduction.
      • The Completed drop-down in the top-right corner lists all completed steps. It shows 0 until you complete a step. Completed steps are added to the drop-down as you progress. To return to a completed step, select it from the drop-down.
      • A progress bar below the screen title shows your current position. For example, if there are six steps and you are on the first, the bar displays 1/6.
      • An image of the full process flow is displayed in the working area.
  • The Show every time toggle at the bottom-right controls whether the Introduction screen appears each time you start the Connect Entity process. Enable it to always show the screen; disable it to skip it on future runs.

Step 3 – Select Entity Type

  • Select the entity type you want to connect. Two cards are displayed:
    • Connector
    • Automation
  • The subsequent screens display based on your selection.
  • Select the card for your entity type. The selected card is highlighted and Next Step becomes active.
  • Select Next Step to continue. Select Cancel to exit to the Project home screen. Select Previous Step to go back.

  • Select the Connect Automation card. The selected card is highlighted and Next Step becomes active.
  • Select Next Step to continue. Select Cancel to exit. Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 4 – Select Automation

  • Select the automation you want to configure. A list of installed automations is displayed.
  • Use the search field or the Type filter drop-down to find a specific automation. Results appear instantly as you type.
  • If you cannot find the automation after applying filters, use the options at the bottom of the screen:
    • Get from the marketplace: Select your desired automation from the marketplace.
    • Create Your Automation: Create your automation and go to the Automation Designer screen.
    • Ask the Community for Support: Go to the OneEnterprise community portal to post queries and receive assistance.
  • Select the automation. The row is highlighted. Select Next Step to continue (enabled after you select an automation). Select Cancel to exit. Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 5 – Assign Connectors to Automation

  • In this step, assign connector types to the automation ports. The screen is divided into two sections:
    • Automation Ports: The left side displays connectors involved in the chosen automation (referred to as ports). Select a band to see the connectors listed on the right. Once you select a connector, it displays a tick icon indicating it is assigned. You must assign a connector to all ports before continuing.
    • System Types: Once you select a system from the list, it is assigned to the automation port. If you have no connector type, a blank screen with Create Connector appears. Select it to go to the Connectors home screen and create the connector type. Return to this process to continue.
  • Select Next Step to continue (enabled after all ports are assigned). Select Cancel to exit. Select Previous Step to go back.

Step 6 – Connecting Automation

  • After you select Next Step, the Connecting Automation screen appears. The system completes all backend processing.
  • A confirmation message appears when the automation is successfully connected.
  • Select Close to exit the screen.
