Connect Automation

Connect Automation

Overview

This section lets you connect an automation to another entity. A single wizard guides you through the process of connecting the desired automation to any entity. The same wizard also enables you to connect a connector to any entity. In the second step of the wizard, you need to select the entity type. Depending on the entity you choose, subsequent steps will be shown.

Step 1 - Start Connect Entity Wizard

  1. Go to the Project module.
  2. Bring the entity to the center of the network diagram where you want to connect another entity. The central system will be considered the first system for connection, and the second system should be chosen in Step 4 of the wizard.
  3. To connect an entity, click the 'Connect' button in the action area. This will initiate the 'Connect Entity' wizard.

Step 2 - View Wizard Introduction

  1. Once the Connect Entity wizard is initiated, a pop-up will appear titled 'Introduction'.
  2. The screen provides an overview of the Connect Entity wizard, helping you understand what's ahead.
  3. Before adding details to the wizard, please get familiar with some standard icons and their usage.
  4. The screen is divided into two segments:
    1. Information Area:
      1. You can find detailed instructions and information for each step in the information area.
      2. Reading these before filling in the details on the screen is recommended to ensure accuracy.
      3. Furthermore, an icon allows you to collapse the information bar, thereby increasing the available working area for the content.
      4. Click the icon to collapse the bar, and click again to return it to normal.
    2. Content Area:
      1. The content area is where all actions must be performed on the screen.
      2. The screen title is located in the top left corner, under Current Step. Currently, it displays an 'Introduction'.
      3. On the top right corner, you will find the 'Completed' drop-down, which lists all the completed steps. Since you haven't completed any steps, '0' is displayed. Completed steps will be added to the drop-down as you progress through the wizard. To return to a previously completed step, select it from the drop-down menu.
      4. A Progress bar is placed below the screen title, which displays the wizard's progress status. The progress bar also indicates the total number of steps and the current step you are working on. For instance, if the total number of steps is six and you are on the first step, the progress bar will display 1/6.
      5. The screen's working area displays an image of the entire wizard process.
      1. A toggle button labeled "Show every time" is located at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Turning off the toggle button will prevent the Introduction screen from displaying when you initiate the Connect System Wizard. However, if you decide to enable the toggle button, you will be able to see the Introduction screen every time you start the Connect System Wizard. The Introduction screen will be skipped if you turn off the "Show every time" button.

Step 3 - Select Entity Type

  1. On this screen, you need to make a selection whether you want to connect a Connector or Automation to the selected entity.
  2. Please select the asset type you want to connect. You will see two cards on the screen:
    1. Connector
    2. Automation
  3. Based on the asset type selection, the further screens will appear.
  4. To select the asset type, click on the respective cards. The section entity card will be highlighted, and the 'Next Step' button will be enabled.
  5. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button. This will cancel the wizard and take you to the Project home screen.
  6. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.

  1. Please select the Connect Automation card.
  2. To select the entity type, click on the Connect Automation card. The chosen card will be highlighted, and the 'Next Step' button will be enabled. Click on the enabled Next Step button to continue.
  3. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button. This will cancel the wizard and take you to the Project home screen.
  4. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.

Step 4 - Select Automation

  1. In this step, please select the automation you want to configure. You will see a list of already installed automations.
  2. To help you find the right automation, search and automation type filter options are available on the screen.
  3. The corresponding results will appear instantly when you start typing a name into the search field.
  4. You can also use the 'Type' filter to search for a particular automation. Select the appropriate option from the drop-down list, such as Accounting automation, to display all related automation options.
  5. If you cannot find the automation you are searching for after applying the filters, you can choose the options at the bottom of the screen.
    1. The first option, 'Get from the marketplace', allows you to select your desired automation from the market.
    2. The second option, 'Create Your Automation', allows you to create your automation and directs you to the Automation Designer screen.
    3. The third option, 'Ask the Community for Support', allows you to seek help from the OneEnterprise community. You will be directed to our community portal, where you can post your queries and receive assistance.
    4. Select the appropriate option by clicking on the desired button. After clicking the desired button, you will be redirected from the wizard to the corresponding screen.
  6. To select, click on the desired automation; that row will be highlighted.
  7. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button.
  8. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.
  9. Next Step:
    1. The 'Next Step' button is turned off by default, but will be enabled once you select automation.
    2. Click on the enabled 'Next Step' button to continue.

Step 5 - Assign Connector(s) to Automation

  1. In this step, you must assign the connector types to the automation port.
  2. The screen is divided into two sections:
    1. Automation Ports:
      1. The left side of the section will display the list of connectors involved in the chosen automation.
      2. In technical terms, it is referred to as a port.
      3. A separate band represents each system. When you click on a band, you will see the connectors listed on the right side of the section.
      4. Once you select a system type from the list, the chosen connector will display a tick icon, indicating that it has been assigned.
      5. You need to assign a connector to all ports. You cannot move further in the wizard unless you assign all the systems.
    2. System Types:
      1. Once you select any of the systems from the list, it will be assigned to the automation port.
      2. You will see a blank screen with the 'Create Connector' button if you do not have a connector type.
      3. If you click on the button, you will be directed to the Connectors home screen, where you can create the system type.
      4. You must first create the connector type and then return to the wizard to connect the automation.
  3. If you want to cancel the wizard at any point, click the 'Cancel' button.
  4. To return to the previous step, click the 'Previous Step' button.
  5. Next Step:
    1. The 'Next Step' button is disabled by default, but it becomes enabled once all system types have been assigned to the port.
    2. Click on the enabled 'Next Step' button to continue.

Step 6 - Connecting Automation

  1. The Connecting Automation screen will appear after you click the 'Next Step' button. You can relax while we handle all the backend work.
  2. Once all the settings are configured, a confirmation message will appear on the screen.
  3. Click the 'Close' button to exit the screen.
